How to Join The Secaucus Fire Department

The Fire Department is always looking for male or female volunteers. You must be 16 years of age and a resident of Secaucus to join the Fire Department. Anyone interested can contact the Fire Chief’s Office at or stop by any firehouse on Sunday mornings from January through May or Monday evenings from June through September.

Training

All members of the Secaucus Fire Department must attend the State Certified Fire Academy and complete the Firefighter I Course. All active members of the department also attend continuing education courses, including Firefighting Safety, Firefighter II, CPR, and Fire Incident Command. Department members continue to attend in-house training to expand their knowledge and keep abreast of new trends. Team members, who are Certified State Instructors, train all other members.

Fire Prevention

The Secaucus Fire Department encourages all residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors twice a year. A good remainder is to change your batteries when you set your clocks forward and backward in the spring and fall.

Call for Help!

To report a FIRE call the Secaucus Police Department – the fire emergency number is (201) 867-8000. State Mandated 911 service is also available. For the quickest, most reliable fire response, however, we encourage all residents to program the fire emergency number into your speed dialer, should there be a problem with the 911 system.
